Goddess (2020)

Goddess - drawing by Harvey Dog 2020

the goddess
bathes in her
private stream,
I hold her soul
and kiss her feet

a gnome
guards the cave
and cleans
her throne

I hold a cauldron
for her tears,
a hollowed-out book
hides her fears,
I have the map
to her dreams

there’s an innocence
before a hurricane

you don’t need to be afraid love
you don’t need to be afraid

Notes

  • Grammarly’s Tone Detector states the poem sounds: Confident, Worried & Formal! Really? Now that I think about it…
  • This poem started off as “Golden Witch” – also a tribute to the female being…but, I went with “Goddess” instead.
