I Reach for a Rock (1997)

I reach for a rock
to keep
from drowning
amongst the crashing
waves

I fall into
the
murky depths,
swallowing my
poison
I sink lower and
lower…

the sun fades
a distant past
a distant life

future’s degenerate
nature
the decadence
I craved…
in my mind,
has become
reality

Notes

  • A poem about sinking down down down into the “murky depths” of depression & seeking a way out of this seeming inevitability.
