The Laugh (1989)

The Laugh - drawing by Harvey Dog 2020

the laugh
always at the ready

the slightest quip
you start shaking
…with laughter

what’s so funny?

“Hi. How are you?”
“I’m fine.”
“That’s good.”
ha ha ha…

a basic greeting
becomes
uproarious laughter

(I’m not paranoid)

the laughter within
I can hear it
I’m sensitive

(a good laugh)
nothing finer
more soothing
a salve,
a fine wine
to the soul

but really

that laugh…

Notes
